Project: THE CREATION AND VALIDATION OF A PROTOTYPE OF THE ARTIFICIAL LUNG VENTILATION DEVICE
Project No. 01.2.1-LVPA-T-858-01-0009
Funding of the project: The project is funded by the European Regional Development Fund. Funded as the EU’s response to COVID-19 pandemic.
Project Lead Partner: UAB TELTONIKA TELEMEDIC
Project implementation period: 15-01-2021 – 30-06-2022
Project value: 1 046 542.76 EUR
During the project, we will create an innovative artificial lung ventilator that not only executes essential functions but also allows to implement of the following functions in the clinical practice:
• Monitor the concentration (mmHg) of carbon dioxide (CO2) in exhaled air;
• Use the additionally installed functions of remote monitoring, partial control and data monitoring system (solutions for remote representation, monitoring of modes and parameters and audible warning and communication signals)
• Use the newly designed and an already installed remote monitoring and assistance system for proning of a ventilated patient;
The key stages of experimental testing of an artificial lung ventilator will involve the evaluation of the accuracy of remote monitoring and assistance system for proning of a ventilated patient, as well as the evaluation of effectiveness and accuracy of partial control and data monitoring system.
In that way, we want to improve the risk management measures of rapid reaction and optimal solutions, decrease the number of avoidable deaths and minimize the risk of infection for medical staff. Also, the newly developed ALV device will see the creation and testing of remote monitoring and chronometric assistance system for proning of a patient.
New insights, developed in the course of the project, will allow further research which would lead to a fundamentally new approach and technology. This will be the basis for the establishment of an innovative medical monitor for the wide market. TPL 6 level is to be attained at the end of the project. The completion of technology and preparation of mass production (reaching the TPL 9 commercial solution level) is planned one year later.
The manufactured modules of data transmission (telemetry) and remote monitoring and chronometric assistance system for proning of a patient will be developed with the scientists of VU and SANTARA.
